PIALE Bournemouth November 2019

On Saturday 16th November, our plane landed in London around 19.30h local time. The weather was cold but at least it wasn't raining. Look at the amazing night view of the city! London is HUGE!
From London Heathrow Airport we went to Bournemouth by bus. It took around two and a half hours (2h 30´). We were very hungry and for this reason the organization gave us a packed dinner. The packed dinner had a sandwich, a piece of fruit (an apple) and a bottle of water. It wasn't much, but enough for the ride. Finally, we arrived to our destination. We got our welcome letters, our key pass and our rooms. Time to sleep... Zzzzzzz

Sunday 17th November

We had a group meeting at 10.30h about our schedules, bus pass, lessons and other instructions for next week. After that, we had time to visit the city of Bournemouth. I went along the beach with 2 colleagues, we rented some bikes and we cycled for 1h. It was very exciting!

Monday 18th November

First day at school, no problems with transport. We had a welcome presentation with all the details about the course, timetables and main rules at school. Each teacher got a specific schedule according to their level. We also walked around the school area with Melissa, the teacher in charge of social activities.
We also had lunch at a traditional British Pub!

Thursday 21st November

What an adventure! Today the residence's alarm went off twice (2 times). We woke up to a loud noise at 4am and we had to leave the building using the stairs in our pyjamas. Nobody was injured but we had to stay for 8 hours in the next building for security reasons. Around noon, 12 o'clock, we returned to our rooms. Apparently, there was a water leak and two floors were flooded. The firefighters worked hard to solve the problem and all the staff was very nice to us. At the end, it was just an anecdote! It was fun to see everybody on their pyjamas! Imagine that!

We also sang some traditional Galician songs in order to stay calm and "while the time away".

Friday, 22nd November

On this windy day, I went running along the coast towards Sandbanks. The beach was very long and it was a pleasant run. I took some interesting pictures of the beach huts at the coast and also some nice street art on my way back.

Weekend off!

Most of the teachers went to Oxford with the day trip planned by the organization. I personally didn't go because I had been there recently in summer so I decided to go to London to meet some very good friends of mine and spend the weekend there. I was lucky because on that weekend they switched on the  Christmas street lights.

Week 2

On this week we had methodology-based lesson with our greek teacher Georgia. She was really enthusiastic and energetic , a person full of ideas and very dynamic. We learnt a lot during this week and we had the chance to play too, putting in practice some of the games she introduced. We were very grateful to Georgia and her activities so if you read this... Thank you, Georgia!

Friday 29th November 2019

Graduation day! All teachers got our diplomas after the hard work. Our school Kaplan made a presentation about the UK Education System and then we took a group photo... which I don't have yet. Time for final shopping and visiting some interesting places around the area. I was particularly interested in a community pub called "Chaplin's". It was a great idea since they had live music on Friday and it was very crowed.

Saturday 30th November 2019

Farewell. Time to say goodbye to our host city. We had to travel from Bournemouth to London by bus. We arrived to Galicia around 23.30h local time... we were knackered (very tired)! I leave you with some nice last sunny photos of Bournemouth. Thanks for reading!
